I definitely have my reservations about particular health trends but I wanted to share this GOLDEN MILK because I actually think it works and i'm a big believer in the power of turmeric.
Tumeric, has been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years for it's potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It does wonders for you liver, brain and colon and is the go to thing to turn to when you're feeling run down as it helps to boost your immune system.
There are two concoctions i'll turn to whenever I feel like i'm getting ill. The first one is not the most pleasant of tastes i'll have to be honest but I think of it more like a medicine than an indulgence. For this i'll put a 1/4 tsp of ginger power, 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and 1/4 tsp of cinnamon in a cafetiere with hot water. I leave it for a minute or two and then plunge and drink as you would a freshly ground coffee. The tastier option is definitely the golden milk. Here's the full recipe.
What you'll need
- 1/2 tsp tumeric
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 8 oz milk (I use coconut or almond milk)
- Few cardamon pods
- Coconut sugar, maple syrup or honey
How to do it
Add the first 3 ingredients together and the cardamon pods (if you decide to use them) in a pan and simmer for 15mins. Add honey (not into the pan), coconut sugar or maple syrup to taste. It's as easy as that.
