what is it?
Restorative Yoga is a therapeutic practise of supported rest. It involves holding a range of comfortable, lying down postures with the use of props like bolsters, blankets and blocks for extended periods.
Rest is an essential component of good physical and mental wellbeing. When we rest we hold space for the unravelling of engrained patterns of physical and mental tension. We are able to shift states from high alert to rest and digest. This is a critical skill to have in the modern world.
Supported rest is a hugely therapeutic way of meeting stress and anxiety. It has the power to soothe the symptoms of both but also goes towards remedying the underlying cause. Rest has an accumulative effect.
barriers to rest.
When being over-scheduled and stressed is the norm for many people, rest can feel like an indulgence. But rest isn’t a luxury or something to be deserved. It’s a powerfully healing practise and something to be enjoyed and feel empowered to do.

Bookings can be made through the Supply Yoga website.
If you’d like to learn how to practise restorative yoga at home, I offer private tuition to equip you with the knowledge you need to develop a self-practise that you can keep in your self-care arsenal for years to come.
For this you’ll need 2 blankets of a similar size, a bolster, 2 yoga bricks and 4 flat yoga blocks, all of which I can help source.
As well as me talking you through the different postures and answering any questions you have, within the sessions you’ll practise each posture just as if you were in a one-to-one setting.
Within the 2 hour session you’ll learn how to set up and practise 6 key restorative postures that you can practise individually or as part of a sequence. Specific instructions and photographs for each posture will be provided.
For held rest I also offer one-to-one sessions in your home. For initial sessions I can provide all the required props.
